3rd Annual BCMS Assignment Notebook Contest 

May 5, 2022

Here's your chance for your child's artwork to be featured on the BCMS Daily Planner for the 2022-23 School Year! We want you to showcase our middle school values and show us your school spirit!

You may use any type of medium to create your drawing (paint, color pencils, computer graphics, etc.)

Please make sure to keep all artwork appropriate. You cannot use any copyrighted material (ex. Disney characters).

 

The contest runs from May 5th until May 20th 2022.

1st place gets featured on the front cover of 2022-23 Assignment Notebook. 2nd through 5th Place will have their artwork on the back cover collage.

  • Don’t forget to put your name, grade and house (Patroon, Mohawk, Hudson) in the email.

  • Please submit your artwork as a photo (jpeg) or pdf and from a non-school email account.

  • You can also drop off the original to the Main Office before 5/15/22.

  • Please email your artwork to ptobcms@gmail.com by May 15th!  

Winners will be notified if their artwork is chosen for publication by May 18th. All original artwork chosen for publication will need to be dropped offed to the main office by May 19th.

8th Grade "Moving Up" Ceremony Scheduled for June 22nd 

April 4, 2022

Our end of the year celebration of our 8th Graders will return to our more traditional "Moving Up" Day program.

The program and timing of our last week of school are as follows:

  • Monday, June 20th (Day of Observance "JuneTeenth" Observed Holiday) - no school for students or staff.

  • Tuesday, June 21st - Last full day of instruction for students.

    • 8th Grade Teams are planning activities for students.

  • Wednesday, June 22nd - Half Day dismissal for students & Last Day of School.

    • 8:00am - Students arrive at the Middle School -attire is "ceremonial" but students are encouraged to be comfortable in the event of hot & humid conditions

    • 8:15am - Students are transported by bus to the High School 

    • Parents and Family members arrive between 8:30am & 8:45am to the High School (enter Athletics entrance & go to "Gym B" - the varsity basketball gym)

      • Please note that students will enter the Gymnasium at 8:45am and all parents would find it easier to be seated prior to this point.

    • 9:00am - Ceremony Begins

    • 10:00am (to 10:10am) - Ceremony Ends

    • At the close of the ceremony, students may either go home with parents, or return to the Middle School (buses will be available to return students to the Middle School).

      • Any student who returns to the Middle School can then be transported home at 11:10am if they normally take a bus home.

As we get closer to this date (June 22nd), we will send out reminders with the above timing and logistics but parents may certainly ask any questions you have. And of course, all of our planning, preparation and logistics have to remain responsive to any pandemic-related impacts. If any change to our program is required we will communicate this as soon as is possible.

Magician Jim Snack joined the BCMS for their 3rd PTO Meeting 

March 30, 2022

The BCMS PTO held their 3rd General PTO Meeting of the 2021-22 school year on Tuesday, March 29th at 7:00pm.

Jim Snack, a magician that has entertained audiences for over 2 decades, was our featured guest. 

This was our first in-person BCMS PTO meeting in over 2 years! 

Snack’s program - The Magic of Community - will included humor, magic, and a message about the important elements in building a sense of community.

Mid-Year Parent Q&A with 
BC Superintendent Jody Monroe

January 20, 2022

Jody Monroe, the Bethlehem Central Schools Superintendent held a Mid-Year Parent virtual Q&A which took place on Thursday, Jan. 20.

Topics discussed included COVID mitigation going forward, instructional updates, and a look ahead to our planning for the second half of this year, as well as the 2022-23 school year, which could see some significant changes in bus transportation.

Former Marvel/DC Comics artist Kevin Conrad joined BCMS PTO meeting

January 13, 2022

Kevin Conrad, a former comic book artist for Marvel and DC Comics, joined the BCMS PTO for their 2nd meeting of the 2021-22 school year.

 

Conrad, who has done work on X-Men, X-Force, Spawn and Kiss, showed us some of his comic book creations. He’ll also explained the backstory as to how he got into comics. Conrad, a Sage College graduate, also answered questions from the audience.

1st BCMS PTO Meeting of the 2021-22 School Year

Our special guest speaker was Isabel Morgan.  Mrs. Morgan is a licensed mental health counselor for “Walk it Out Now LLC”. She talked about transitioning from online education to in-person learning. She also discussed the stress we’ve all been under over the last 18 months.
